By following SSPC standards, our team achieves standardized surface prep results across all our surface preparation services. We meet several SSPC standards, including:
- SSPC-Surface Preparation (SP)-1 — Solvent Cleaning: Standard for removal of soluble substances from steel.
- SSPC-SP-2 — hand tool cleaning: This standard covers the removal of all loose paint, rust, mill scale and other loose destructive foreign matter from coating applications or surfaces using non-powered hand tools.
- SSPC-SP-3 — power tool cleaning: SP-3 guides the removal of all destructive foreign matter from the surface of coating applications using powered tools.
- SSPC-SP-5 — white metal blasting: This standard directs the use of abrasive blast media to effectively clean a painted or unpainted steel surface of any foreign matter, such as oil, grease, dust and dirt, into a white metal condition.
- SSPC-SP-6 — commercial blast cleaning: SP-6 checks that all steel surfaces are cleaned into white metal conditions — as in SP-5 above. It further checks that the foreign matter doesn't leave more than 33% of random staining from previous exposure.
- SSPC-SP-7 — brush-off blast cleaning: SP-7 covers the threshold for cleaning mill scale, oil, grease, dust and other adherents from painted or unpainted steel surfaces using abrasive blast media.
- SSPC-SP-10 — near-white metal blast cleaning
- SSPC-SP-11 — power tool cleaning to bare metal
- SSPC-SP-14 — industrial blast cleaning
- SSPC-SP-15 — commercial grade power tool cleaning
- SSPC-SP-16 — brush-off blast cleaning of non-ferrous metals
